According to the Jewish tradition, the Star of David was painted or engraved on the shields of king Davidīs warriors. Researches show that this symbol originated from the lily flower engraved under the candles of the temple lamp. Another tradition claims that this symbol is identical to king Davidīs signature, since the letter "Dalet" in ancient Hebrew resembles a triangle.
